Q1. Does PhDeX Services offer formal accreditation
for higher degrees such as the PhD?
A. No. PhDeX only provides expert opinion on the standard
of a scholarly piece of work with respect to the standards required if
the thesis or disseration was to be submitted to an
Australian University for examination. This opinion is provided in a
standard format.
Q2. Why can the services provided by PhDeX
be appropriate for an examiner’s
report for a PhD or other higher degree candidate?
A. In Australian as in other developed Western countries, it is usually
mandatory for theses to be examined by “experts” in the field
and the report sent to the Examination Committee at the candidate’s
home university department or institute. So as to provide an unbiased assessment
of the merits of the thesis, such examiners are usually resident in a department,
institute, university, city or even a country which is distinct from that
of the student’s home university department or institute. PhDeX Thesis
Examination Services matches the research area of the thesis to that of
academic or qualified researcher located within an Australian research
institute or university.
Q3. Why would you choose PhDeX Thesis Examination
Services?
A.
Q4. Is PhDeX a paper writing service?
A. No. PhDeX Thesis Examination Services is unlike all other student or
other paper writing services. We offer only to give an expert unbiased
critique of a piece of scientific work (be it a thesis or a technical
paper) in terms of its suitability for acceptance for some higher degree
award, or for International Journal submission and subsequent formatting
for publication. We also offer services which will allow high-level scientific
editing of technical papers in the life sciences so as they will conform
to international, peer-review scrutiny for journal publication. This
service is quite distinct from those services that offer to write essays,
theses and the like on behalf of the student and which rely on just “cut
and paste” of information from diverse sources.
Q5. Is there any plagiarism involved?
A. Our core business is to provide high-level examination and technical
editing. As such we do not need to “invent” text in any way. Therefore
the sourcing of additional material over and above that provided by our client,
is not necessary. Unlike other businesses that “create” works on
behalf of their clients, “cutting and pasting” and therefore the
opportunity to plagiarize, is not an issue or a practice we are involved in.
Q6. Where is our business located?
A. PhDeX Thesis Examination Services is located in Adelaide,
South Australia, Australia. It is an Australian owned company with
a wide network
of Australian
academics and researchers whom it can call on to provide, fast, professional,
and internationally-recognized excellence in the life and biomedical
sciences. See our Contact page for address
details.
Q7. How do I pay?
A. We accept payment via our secure Visa and MasterCard credit card
facility. Our rates are quoted in US Dollars and payment can be made via credit
card in US Dollars or in your equivalent local currency.
PhDeX Thesis Examination Services is a fee-for-service company and, as such, must receive full payment before the examination or editing service is undertaken.

trust PhDeX Thesis Examination Services/ Technical Writing and Editing
Services?

We are keen to build this business with ongoing repeat business and referrals.
We will provide the highest level of professional opinion and critique
in accord with the formats provided, and which will be within the time-frame

as well as services so as to bring a technical/scientific report up to
international standard in terms of being correctly written and formatted
for publication assessment by the editorial boards of international, peer-reviewed
journals.
Q9. What makes us a unique, professional
service?
Answer 1.
In terms of thesis examination: Currently, there are
often difficulties in getting a thesis examined by a recognised expert
in the field; and
this may be the case particularly if the institute or department the
higher-degree student is enrolled in, is not well known internationally.
This can lead
to extensive delays in the examination of theses which could significantly
impact on the student’s career goals.
PhDeX Thesis Examination Services circumvents these difficulties by quickly matching the research area of the submitted thesis to a suitably qualified Australian academic or research worker from an established institute. A timely, technical, scientific and academic opinion and critique of the thesis is provided by PhDeX which could be used by the host department’s higher degree examination board, which will provide expert input for final assessment of that student’s suitability to be awarded the degree.
The report will also contain helpful advice and suggestions to improve the work, as well as providing a list of questions relevant to the thesis which could be used by the host department for further evaluation such as in a viva or examination board setting. PhDeX can also be contracted to scientifically edit the thesis and assist in preparation.
Answer 2.
In terms of scientific editing: Career prospects, tenure,
grant support and international recognition come from scholarly publication
of one's research work. Therefore professional input, advice and editing
are essential in our competative scientific world.
Technical writing and
formatting of research reports into a form suitable for submission
to high-profile
(ie high
citation index), peer-reviewed, international scientific journals,
is a skill that can only be built up over time, mainly through a “trial
and error” approach. Continued rejection on the grounds of improper
use of English, poor editing, bad syntax or data layout, or any one of
the many other things required before notification of acceptance for
journal publication is given, can severely hold back the career or promotional
aspirations of a researcher or research group. This is particularly the
case, where publication is required for continued tenure, or the awarding
of new or continuing research grant funds.
PhDeX Services therefore offers high level editing of research papers
which will overcome the problems associated with assembling a research
paper
in a correct style for journal submission. PhDeX will advise and assist
with this task on a fee-for-service basis.
Q10. Can we edit draft technical reports
and other works for scientific publication?
A. Yes. PhDeX can assist and advise in the proper editing of reports so
that they can of a standard acceptable for publication in high-impact,
international journals. In addition we can advise of what additional data
may be needed to bring a piece of work up to a specified standard and whether
the methodology, sample size, use of appropriate controls, degree of reproducibility
etc. are appropriate for the target journal.
PhDeX services can also assist in the presentation of scientific material for seminars, posters and oral contributions to scientific conferences.
Q11. How negotiable is the price for
using PhDeX services for thesis examination and manuscript editing?
Answer 1. For thesis examination, our prices are based on an estimate of
the time required by a qualified academic or research researcher in the
field or closely related to the field covered by the thesis, to read the
submitted work and give a sound critique and opinion in the appropriate
format. Although we have given prices for examination of a “Standard
Thesis”, we do not activate the processing until we have provided
you with a firm and agreed-to quotation on the work you have submitted
for examination.
We will give a discounted price should you require the thesis to be examined by more than one independent examiner and this will be in our quotation. We will also give a discount should you require a report on more than one thesis at any one time.
Answer 2. For assistance in preparation and editing for first-time journal submission or for revisions required by the journal that relate to layout, proper use of English in the scientific context, generation of appropriate data sets, referencing etc, or for other stipulated work, we will provide you with a competitive quotation within two days again based on the time we feel it would take an experienced editor and scientific writer to bring the work up to the standard required. We would commence work immediately we receive your payment, and forward the completed work to you within the time-frame specified.
